California in Crisis: A Prayer and Call for the Global Body of Christ to Unite
The start of 2025 has brought devastating news from California. Fires have ravaged the state, reducing homes to ashes, displacing families, and taking precious lives. It is a heartbreaking reality for a place known for its beauty, resilience, and vibrant communities. For me, this tragedy hits close to home.
In June 2015, I had the privilege of visiting San Diego, California. The memories of that trip are vivid: meeting long-time friends, sharing meals, visiting churches, and witnessing the warmth and kindness of its people. California became a part of my heart, not just for its scenic beauty but for the relationships and faith-filled moments I experienced there.
Now, seeing the devastation unfold, my heart is broken. The loss is immense, but even amid this darkness, the light of compassion and resilience continues to shine. Stories of neighbors helping neighbors and churches stepping up to serve are reminders of the strength of community and faith.
A Call for the Global Body of Christ to Unite
This is a time for the global Body of Christ to stand together in prayer and action. The challenges faced by California are a reminder of the trials that many communities endure worldwide. As believers, we are called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) and to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Let us unite in fasting and prayer for California, asking God to bring healing and restoration. Beyond prayer, let us extend support where possible—through donations, advocacy, and acts of kindness that reflect the love of Christ.
The Body of Christ is not bound by borders or oceans. It is a global family rooted in faith and compassion. Let us rise to the occasion, demonstrating the unity and love that Jesus prayed for in John 17:21: “That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”
California needs our prayers, our support, and our love. Together, as one Body in Christ, let us lift this beautiful state and its people before the throne of grace.
In faith and solidarity,
