Standing With Pakistan’s Most Vulnerable Women — Offering Care, Dignity and Hope
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction.”
— James 1:27
Forgotten by Society — Remembered by God
Pakistan’s widows face a crisis of extreme poverty that is largely invisible to the outside world. With no formal employment skills and no government welfare system to turn to, millions of women are left without any source of income the moment their husbands die. Food, shelter, medicine — all become uncertain overnight.
Deep cultural stigma compounds the suffering. Widows in Pakistan are often blamed for their husbands’ deaths, pushed to the margins of family life, or pressured to leave their homes. Many depend entirely on relatives who may reject or mistreat them. Children go hungry. Girls are pulled out of school to work. Boys fall into dangerous situations. The generational cycle of poverty tightens with every passing year.
Christian widows face a double burden. As members of a religious minority in Pakistan, they endure not only the poverty and stigma common to all widows, but also discrimination based on their faith. They are often denied work, refused assistance, and overlooked by the broader community. For these women, Good Samaritan Ministries is not merely a charity — it is a lifeline rooted in the love of Christ.
No Income
Most widows have no formal employment skills and no income source. They are left to survive on charity alone, with no path toward financial independence.
Social Stigma
Widows in Pakistan face deep cultural shame and family rejection. Society often treats them as burdens rather than people deserving dignity, compassion, and care.
Children Suffering
Children of widows are most at risk of dropping out of school. When a mother has no income, education is the first sacrifice — trapping the next generation in poverty.
